Over 1,000 years of history - whether you are 5 or 95 there is something for everyone! Dogs welcome.
Explore a fascinating collection of rescued rural buildings set in a beautiful 40-acre site within the South Downs National Park, West Sussex. Discover the stories of the people who lived and worked in them over a 1,000-year period from Anglo-Saxon to Edwardian times.
Homes and historic gardens, farm animals and farming heritage, crafts and trade workshops, beautiful woodland, pasture and wildflower meadows
Take a break from the stresses of modern life and relax at the Museum. Take a walk in the woods, bring the dog, visit the waterside café or enjoy your own picnic. Don¹t miss our annual shows, which include the Food & Folk Festival, Rare Breeds Show and Vintage & Steam.
We are an independent Museum, rescuing and conserving historic buildings and teaching traditional trades and crafts to ensure their preservation.
Enjoy our family-friendly and dog-friendly open air site, with seasonal demonstrations and events throughout the year.
The centre of the Museum site is flat with parts set on sloping ground, which is steep in places. Access around the site is on rural surfaces; mainly rolled or loose chippings, which are in keeping with the nature of the site and buildings. Some paths are cobbled and their surfaces may cause difficulty for visitors who use a wheelchair or have impaired mobility. For information, visit - https://www.wealddown.co.uk/vi...
