Discover Hastings on the south coast!

Hastings is known for the 1066 Battle of Hastings, fought on a nearby field where Battle Abbey now stands. It also boasts the Norman ruins of Hastings Castle, once home to William the Conqueror, which overlooks the English Channel.

Hastings has a great shingle beach that runs alongside the town, with an award winning recently renovated pier in the middle!

East of Hastings town centre lays the 'old town', which is full of character with plenty of antique shops with a bohemian flair. It's a little quirky and a great place to explore, where the old town meets the beach is 'The Stade', home of Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet, which is quite a spectacle!

There are also many local fresh seafood sellers, great fish and chip restaurants and the Hastings Contemporary Art gallery, which is a must visit.

Hastings also has the fabulous "Hastings Fisherman's Museum" on the seafront, which is free (donations welcome) and you can learn about the fishing heritage of the area, great for families!

For the best views over Hastings try the Funicular East Cliff Hill Railway, it's the steepest funicular railway in England and opened in 1902!
