Mersea Island is infamous for its fresh seafood, but mainly for its Native Oysters, sold internationally all over the world. During your trip you will sail amongst the creeks where these famous oysters are cultivated and harvested and you will see the old oyster packing shed built and used during the 1800's for packing, sizing and sorting the oysters before they were transported by ships to London for export.
