Torquay's belangrijkste tourende theater

Het Princess Theatre ligt aan de prachtige kust van Torquay en biedt prachtige uitzichten die de landschappelijke schoonheid van Torbay laten zien.

Het Princess Theatre opende voor het eerst haar deuren op woensdag 7 juni 1961. Top of the bill op de openingsavond waren wijlen de grote Tommy Cooper en de legendarische Morecombe & Wise. In 1963 verschenen The Beatles live op het podium terwijl ze de toen pas uitgebrachte single "She Loves You" zongen, wat voor enige hysterie in de stad zorgde! Het Princess Theatre is het grootste theater van Zuid-Devon met een capaciteit van 1.491 zitplaatsen. Het theater is een rondreishuis wat betekent dat de voorstellingen die hier optreden worden gebracht door onafhankelijke productiemaatschappijen. Als zodanig biedt ons dagboek een breed scala aan live-entertainment, van opera's en balletten tot concerten, comedy en pantomime, evenals tourende West End-musicals. Grote muzikale producties die ons publiek enthousiast hebben gemaakt, zijn onder meer Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Chicago, Starlight Express, Rocky Horror, Cats en Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat en er zullen er nog veel meer volgen. Iconen van het podium en scherm Sir Roger Moore, Elaine Page, Joan Collins en de geliefde Joan Rivers hebben ook ons podium vereerd. Comedians Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr en Dawn French hebben hier ook opgetreden en hitparades Mumford & Sons, Jamie Cullum en Ronan Keating hebben het theater op hun Britse tournees opgenomen. We zijn er trots op om samen te werken met de lokale gemeenschap om de getalenteerde sterren van Torbay te laten zien, met shows van amateurverenigingen en lokale dansscholen. We bieden ook de locatie voor door de gemeente leidende evenementen en we zijn ongelooflijk trots op ons bekroonde kerststalproject, wanneer basisscholen de mogelijkheid krijgen om hun kerstvoorstellingen gratis op het podium op te voeren. Toegankelijkheids Informatie

There are 4 wheelchair spaces for customers who have to remain in their wheelchairs throughout the performance. There are also carer seats located either next to, or directly in front or behind the wheelchair space.
There are 6 steps up, with handrails, to the main entrance, then swing doors into the foyer. A ramp is situated to the far right of the doors near to the entrance to Breezes. Two sets of double doors give access to the rear of the stalls, which slopes down (no stairs) to the front row. There is a lift, or a flight of 22 steps, from the foyer to the circle bar. From the bar there are two entrances to the circle, both with double swing doors and 11 steps to a centre gangway, from which there are 6 steps down to the front row and 5 steps up to the back row.
Access Parking spaces now has a dropped curb in close proximity to the Theatre for easy accessible access
There is also a Café/Bar/Bistro linked to the theatre, which is fully accessible to the disabled and wheelchair users.
The box office is situated on the road side of the building with two flat entrances with heavy swing doors, automatic opening doors are situated to the left of the box office operated by pressing the red button on the wall the counter is 90 cms high, with a writing shelf situated in the middle of the 2 sales counters, The rows with better leg room in the stalls are the front row, V36/42, all side gangway seats and Circle row G.
