The UK coastline ranks as one of the most exciting in the world; more than 185 million years old, and one of the most varied – rich in maritime port cities, smuggling villages, family resorts, natural beauty and unique sea life.

Why is 2023 Year of the Coast?
2023 celebrates our breath-taking coastline and celebrates a year-long programme of events occurring around the whole of England’s coast including various new sections of the England Coast Path opening. On completion it will be arguably the longest and most challenging National Trail at more than 2,700 miles, passing through some of our finest countryside and coastal locations - a reason to celebrate!

Those planning a staycation in 2023 need look no further than our very own English coastline where the water’s edge is always brimming with a variety of exciting events from festivals to local food markets, walking trails to water sports and much more.
