From the mouth of the River Tees to Whitby, this stretch on the north east coast offers a superb mix of coast and countryside and a makes a lovely romantic escape or bolt away with friends at any time of the year. 

It’s known for excellent surfing, but beyond the beaches Redcar, Guisborough and Saltburn offer sports, maritime heritage and arts. 

Redcar oozes seaside charm, amble along the Esplanade and scale the 80-foot Redcar Beacon for sweeping sea views. Marske-by-the-Sea is just two miles from Redcar and a wonderfully peaceful spot that stretches along to Saltburn-by-the-Sea. 

Take the Saltburn Cliff Tramway to the north east’s last remaining pier, visit the wonderful gardens of Ormesby Hall and don’t miss Saltburn Farmer’s Market, one of the best in the north east, occurs every second Saturday.
