Liverpool is a maritime city where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea
It was a key trade and migration port from the 18th to early 20th centuries and is famously known as the hometown of the Beatles. Ferries cruise the waterfront where the iconic mercantile buildings known as the “Three Graces”- the Royal Liver Buidling, the Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool building stand on the Pier Head.
Today the historic waterfront has been regenerated offering a wealth of museums and other attractions. The City is packed with internationally important museums and art galleries, two cathedrals and a number of other commercial attractions. Shoppers are spoilt for choice with boutique arcades, bohemian streets and shopping centres including Liverpool ONE on the waterfront.
