With its rolling moorland, woodland trails and craggy coast, this is definitely a walker’s paradise.  Even if you don’t possess a pair of walking boots, there are lovely walks whatever your level of fitness. Explore new areas through a series of walks created by Discover Yorkshire Coast, split into short, medium or longer hikes.  

Take a magical moonlit walk around Robin Hood’s Bay, discover the sounds of the forest on a Twilight Nature Sounds Safari or embark on a full ramble along the Cleveland Way and North York Moors National Park – the views are all stunning! 

If you’re staying in Scarborough or Filey, there are dedicated walks around the town. Take a spooky two-mile Ghost Walk around Scarborough or discover both the old and new faces of Filey in two of the town’s walking trails.

From whale-watching to spa breaks, the Yorkshire Coast is packed with choice, be as busy or relaxed as you choose, either way you’ll leave refreshed! 

For food and drink lovers, there are plenty of options. After all, this county is famed for its beer, so there’re no shortage of Breweries to tour, but why not sample Yorkshire’s first malt whisky at the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery?  

And for foodies, there’s a year-round programme of cookery courses at Arches Cookery School. Run by a former chef to rock royalty, Sarah Muir, learn how to get the best out of Whitby fish, or sign up for The Best of Yorkshire using only local ingredients. Based on a farm in Saltburn-by-The-Sea, Sarah uses fresh fruit, veg and herbs grown on the farm.

No trip to the Yorkshire Coast is complete without getting out on the waves to spot dolphins, seals and a huge array of sea birds. Simply hop aboard from Scarborough or Whitby, there are even circular whale-watching tours. 

For the more adventurous, there are water sports galore, try coasteering, kayaking, surfing or have a go at raft-building. If you’re with the girls, there’s even Ruby’s Rippers Girls Surf Academy who offer evening classes to teach women to swim.
